I MISS WHITE TABLECLOTHS – by Elva Hanson

May 7, 2020

I miss white tablecloths
I miss the chatter
I miss hearing familiar voices all around me
I miss the menus, the salt & pepper shakers
I miss the servers, every single one,
I miss Yogi belting out a song
I miss the happy cacophony of sound
I miss fresh flowers on the tables every Wednesday
I miss serviettes & steak knives
I miss Megan’s DIY Jeopardy
I miss art class
I miss tai chi, and I miss yoga,
I miss Nicole’s voice, her countdown from the gym
I miss the Town Car being outside the door
I miss my drives with Mark & Paul
I miss spring
I miss seeing buds & leaves & flowers
I miss seeing the Front Desk smiles, without a mask
I miss the theatre
I miss George & Katherine & the guy that chases storms
I miss it all!

Thank you to the staff
Thank you for having to wear masks
Thank you to our loving, caring nursing staff
Thank you for delivering our meals
Thank you chefs for preparing those meals
Thank you Shawna for the harsh rules to keep us safe
Thank you to the office staff for organizing all this
Thank you for the Tuck Shoppe
Thank you everyone for wearing different hats
Thank you to the drivers now taking temperatures
Thank you to the Front Desk for being “out there”
Thank you to the housekeepers for a spotless environment
Thank you to maintenance for fixing most anything
Thank you for all the hall games to keep us happy
Thank you for the lattes in the lounge (with social distancing, of course!)
Thank you!

I’m looking forward to seeing the “Please Wait to Be Seated” sign
I’m looking forward to white tablecloths.
